VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The City of Virginia Beach dedicated a street in the honor of a fallen police officer on Monday.
The street is named “Mike Phillips Way” in honor of Detective Mike Phillips who was shot and killed in the line of duty on August of 2008. Detective Phillips was killed while conducting an undercover drug operation in the Green Run Shopping Center. During an arranged meeting with two suspects, one opened fire striking Phillips multiple times.
Some could consider the street naming a break in the clouds.
